How To: Janelle Monae Style

I created this style without watching a tutorial. I spent more time figuring out how to create the style, than I did actually styling my hair. Here is the secret to how I did it.

Styling Tip: Steam Rollers

At the Bobcats game
On Monday, hubby and I attended the first Bobcats game of the season. We went horseback riding a few hours before the game, so I had about one hour to get ready (i.e. shower and style my hair). If you are short on time or only have a few steam rollers, here is a great way to get fabulous results with only six steam rollers.

Before
After

Here's the recap with tons of pictures on how I styled my hair with faux bangs this Thanksgiving. (Excuse my blank stare in the "After" picture LOL I was getting tired of taking pictures and ready to go eat...that's my "I'm hungry" face).

Hair Style Tutorial Preview

I recorded a hairstyle tutorial while getting ready to attend my cousin's wedding. To create this style I used a regular curling iron that I converted into a clamp-less iron by removing the clamp.

I have to edit and upload the video, so until then here is a preview of the final result.

How I Cross Wrap My Hair

Hi friends!

Cross wrapping is another option for wearing your hair to bed.  I rarely wrap my hair but when I do, I cross wrap rather than doing a regular "doobie" wrap.   I prefer to cross wrap my hair because regular wrapping makes my hair limp and it causes my hair to "bend" in the direction of the wrap.  The bend makes my hair look uneven or slanted from the back.  With cross wrapping there is also less tension applied to my ends and edges.

I hope this is helpful.

Happy Growing.
